Safety & Security

Governors’ Balloon Safaris puts safety at the forefront of its values and leads the balloon industry in that respect. We’re the only balloon company in Africa that requires a minimum of 1,000 hours flying time for each pilot in our lineup and most exceed that by a considerable margin— undoubtedly the best Africa has to offer.

All pilots and ground crew participate in annual safety, security, hazardous goods, first aid training, and we are the only Kenyan balloon company to employ a medical officer and safety officer. Prior to every flight, a comprehensive safety briefing is presented and we’re the only company in Kenya to utilize seatbelts during the landing phase.

As the only African operator of Australian-built Kavanagh Balloons, we benefit from the safest and most advanced deflation system in the entire balloon industry and our maintenance staff collectively have more than 60 years of experience in maintaining our equipment. Each season we employ a UK-based external auditor with 35 plus years of experience in safety and regulation compliance— again, the only balloon company in Kenya to do so. You can be assured Governors’ Balloon Safaris gives your safety the highest consideration— it’s our #1 core company value.

Safety First

Safety is always a top priority at Governors' Balloon Safaris. We regularly undergo comprehensive audits by the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) and hold detailed operator safety reviews to ensure our protocols not only meet but exceed international standards.

With an impeccable safety record and a commitment to continuous improvement, you can enjoy your flight with complete peace of mind—leaving you free to simply take in the breathtaking views, knowing you’re in expert hands.

Quality Control, Every Step

Safety isn’t a one-time task—it’s an ongoing commitment. As part of our continuous quality control, we bring in independent ballooning experts to review our operations.
